Configure Microsoft Marketplace custom contract lengths and renewals with SaaSify

By Niharika S. Sep 18, 2026 · 6 min read

TL;DR

  • Microsoft Marketplace private offers now support custom contract lengths from 1 to 120 months (equivalently, 1 to 10 years), including non-standard terms like 9, 18, or 45 months. Generally available since July 6, 2026 for SaaS and professional services private offers built through the absolute-pricing new-plan flow.

  • For SaaS private offers, publishers define how the subscription renews at the end of its term: into the private offer terms while the offer is active, or directly into a selected public offer term. A public offer renewal term must always be selected as the fallback.

  • Both decisions are made at offer creation and locked in once the customer accepts, so getting them right the first time matters.

  • SaaSify brings both configurations into the SaaSify WebApp and, in CRM across Salesforce & HubSpot, adds Renewal Type and Public Offers for Renewal to the Microsoft private offer module, so deal desks configure contract term and renewal controls without opening Partner Center.

Enterprise Marketplace deals do not always fit neat annual terms. Customers may need to co-term contracts, align to fiscal years, or bridge to a specific renewal date. Until now, that could mean reshaping the deal to fit Marketplace constraints or moving parts of it off-platform. The new contract-length and renewal controls give publishers more flexibility to structure deals as negotiated, with SaaSify bringing that configuration into the deal-desk workflow.

Custom contract length and renewal controls in Microsoft Marketplace

Microsoft Marketplace private offers now give publishers more control over both the contract term and the renewal path of an enterprise deal:

  • Custom contract lengths: Publishers can set private offer terms from 1 to 120 months, including non-standard durations such as 9, 18, or 45 months. This gives teams more flexibility to align Marketplace contracts with the commercial terms already negotiated with the customer.

  • Renewal controls for SaaS: Publishers can decide at offer creation whether a SaaS subscription renews into the private offer terms while the offer remains active, or moves directly to a selected public offer term at the end of the contract.

SaaSify brings both configurations into the deal workflow, so teams can set contract length and renewal behavior directly from the SaaSify WebApp, Salesforce, or HubSpot

Custom contract lengths

Custom terms help ISVs match Marketplace contracts to how enterprise deals are actually structured, including:

  • Co-terming a new purchase with an existing customer agreement.

  • Aligning to fiscal-year timelines with terms such as 9 or 15 months.

  • Supporting non-standard multi-year commitments, such as 45 months.

Billing options depend on the contract term:

  • Annual billing: Year-based terms or month-based terms in multiples of 12.

  • Monthly or one-time billing: Terms that do not follow an annual cadence.

  • Flexible billing: Up to 70 installments on unique dates across the contract term, supported for eligible SaaS flat-rate and professional services offers.

Renewal controls for SaaS

For SaaS private offers, publishers can define the renewal path at offer creation:

  • Renew into the private offer: The subscription continues on private offer terms while the offer remains active, then moves to the selected public offer term.

  • Renew into the public offer: The subscription moves directly to the selected public offer term at renewal.

  • A public offer term is always required as the fallback renewal path.

Two points to keep in mind:

  • Auto-renew is customer-controlled and off by default, so the configured renewal path applies only when the customer opts in.

  • Flexible billing schedules renew into the selected public offer term, rather than continuing on private offer terms.

What this unlocks for ISV revenue teams

Both capabilities shift enterprise deal mechanics that used to require workarounds into a configuration exercise the publisher runs once, at offer creation:

  • Close more enterprise revenue through Marketplace: More complex deals can move through the channel without forcing major changes to the commercial agreement.

  • Protect total contract value: Sellers have more flexibility to keep the deal structure the customer has already agreed to, reducing the risk of value being lost at the transaction stage.

  • Improve renewal revenue visibility: Teams know earlier how a customer will renew, making future revenue easier to plan and manage.

  • Grow Marketplace as a revenue channel: As more deal types become easier to transact, a larger share of enterprise business can move through Marketplace.

Configure both capabilities from SaaSify or your CRM

Instead of configuring the Marketplace transaction separately in Partner Center, deal teams set the negotiated term and renewal controls while building the private offer in SaaSify or CRM (Salesforce and HubSpot).

  • SaaSify WebApp: Custom contract term length is set in the Plan Editor’s billing and pricing terms and is supported for both SaaS and Professional Services private offers. Renewal behavior is configured separately in the Renewals section during SaaS offer creation, right after billing frequency.

  •  CRM (Salesforce & HubSpot): SaaSify has introduced Renewal Type and Public Offers for Renewal as fields under the Microsoft private offer module, so a rep drafting a private offer configures the renewal path alongside the rest of the deal without leaving Salesforce or HubSpot.

Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum contract length for a Microsoft Marketplace private offer?

For SaaS and professional services private offers built through the absolute-pricing new-plan flow, the supported range is 1 to 120 months (equivalently, 1 to 10 years), including non-standard durations such as 18 or 45 months. The capability became generally available on July 6, 2026. Other Marketplace offer types follow their standard duration options.

Which offer types support custom contract lengths?

SaaS and professional services private offers built through the absolute-pricing flow that creates a new plan with a unique plan ID. The whole agreement transacts as a single private offer.

Which billing frequencies are available for a custom-length term?

Annual billing is available for year-based terms or month-based terms that are multiples of 12. For other durations, publishers use one-time, monthly, or a flexible schedule of up to 70 installments with each charge falling within the contract term.

How does a SaaS private offer renew?

Publishers define the renewal path at offer creation. Options are "renew into private offer" (renews at private offer terms while the offer is active, then falls back to a selected public offer term) or "renew into public offer" (renews directly to the selected public offer term). Auto-renew is off by default for SaaS, so the customer opts in at purchase.

Do private offers using a flexible billing schedule renew into the private offer term?

Flexible-billing private offers renew via the selected public offer term. Where a clean private-offer renewal matters to the deal, the billing structure should be planned accordingly at offer creation.

Where does SaaSify support these configurations?

Custom contract lengths and renewal controls are supported in the SaaSify WebApp for SaaS products on the new plan type, with contract-length flexibility also extending to Professional Services. In Salesforce or HubSpot, SaaSify has added Renewal Type and Public Offers for Renewal fields under the Microsoft private offer module.
